INTERESTING PIRATE FACTS

1. Pirates wore eyepatches, mainly to help their eyesight adjust more quickly between the bright ship deck and the dark below decks.

2. Pirates wore an earring because they believed, putting pressure on their earlobe prevented them from becoming seasick. There is no evidence to prove this was effective scientifically.
3. Historians have found evidence of Pirates in the Mediterranean as far back as 1353 BC, during the rule of the Pharaoh Akhenaten
4. The “Golden Age of Piracy,” was the period between 1650 and 1720. This is when the likes of Pirates such as Blackbeard, Jack Rackman and Henry Morgan did their dastardly deeds.
5. As Pirates would approach an enemy ship, they would wave a friendly flag. Only to hoist the Jolly Roger at the last minute showing their intention to attack. Crafty devils.
